A Year and a
Half in the Making.
This isn't a pairing. It's a process.
And today, we're telling you what's been happening.
"You don't make a pairing. You find it."
— Luciano, Cigar Talk Live
One statement.
A year and a half of work.
Years ago on Cigar Talk Live, Luciano said something that stayed with us. He meant it plainly. Most pairings happen after both products are finished — a cigar pulled from inventory, a whiskey already bottled, placed side by side and called a match.
It can work. Sometimes very well. But they were never made with each other in mind.
That statement sat with us for a long time. Then one question changed everything: what if you built both from the ground up — together?
Not what goes well together.
But what belongs together.
The People Behind It
One of the most respected blenders in the industry. Brought the discipline of tobacco — adjusting leaf, construction, and profile in real time based on what the whiskey revealed. No ego. All craft.
A distillery willing to go back to the still based on what the cigar called for. They came to the table ready to work — not to present a finished product, but to build one.
The idea started here. The conversations happened here. ICC is where both craftsmen could meet, taste, and refine — without pressure to perform, without shortcuts.
How It
Actually Worked
Luciano's team provided a baseline blend profile. Ironroot used that as a foundation for the whiskey build — not a shortcut, a starting point.
The distillery produced a working expression. Both teams tasted. Both took notes. Neither declared it finished.
Both went back to their respective crafts and adjusted. Then they compared again. This cycle repeated — not until it was perfect, but until it was honest.
There were rounds where the alignment wasn't there. We documented those too. This project is a working collaboration — not a curated highlight reel.
"The first expression is not the destination. It's the starting point."
This project is built for years of refinement. What launches in June 2025 is a foundation — a documented first chapter of an ongoing process between two craftsmen and the lounge that made it possible.
The product isn't
available yet.
We're sharing this now because you deserve to understand what you're being invited into before it lands in your hands. The full release — the cigar, the whiskey, and the documented story behind both — comes June 13th.
Between now and then, we'll be sharing the process. The decisions. The refinements. The moments where it worked and the ones where it didn't.
